Agile Leadership

Leadership that adapts

Agile leadership is not a model you implement. It is a mindset that enables leaders to respond faster, share more responsibility, and truly empower teams.

Definition

What we mean by Agile Leadership

There is no single form of agile leadership. What all approaches share is the intention: to increase the adaptability of leadership to internal and external factors.

Quick adaptation

Leaders adapt quickly to new situations. Their own understanding of leadership is adjusted depending on context.

Letting go of power

More competencies and decision-making space are transferred to others. Empowerment is not a buzzword — it is lived practice.

Learning and making mistakes

Learning new things is welcomed. The willingness to be wrong is a strength, not a weakness.

Capabilities of agile leaders
Adapt quickly to new situations
Adjust leadership style depending on context
Transfer more power and competencies to others
Actively support others (empowerment)
Embrace learning and allow for mistakes
Take on different roles: coach, moderator, facilitator, servant leader

Agile Leadership vs. Collegial Leadership: In agile leadership, the leader retains overall responsibility. In Collegial Leadership, leadership responsibility is fully distributed across the team or organisation.

Applications of Collegial Leadership
Agile Team Leadership

Enabling teams instead of controlling them

A leader increasingly becomes an enabler of team success. Rather than having to oversee everything, the focus is on creating a framework in which the team can perform at its best.

Agile Executive Leadership

The executive board as an effective leadership body

Executive boards are often organised in a way where members act primarily from their individual role. This leads to friction losses. Agile leadership at board level creates greater effectiveness.

Do you recognise these patterns in your executive board?
You don’t always pull in the same direction — members act from their individual CxO role.
The company’s direction needs constant adjustment because internal or external factors keep changing.
Decisions create winners and losers — or are never made at all.
As a body, you feel generally sluggish or even paralysed.
Moderation
Facilitating difficult decisions

We facilitate your decision-making process in a neutral and structured way — so that decisions are made that everyone can stand behind.
